Project Technician/ Environmental Consulting

Position Description:

Provides support to senior staff during all phases of a project or program such as pre-design, procurement, construction and post construction.  Responsibilities include cost management, schedule management, quality control and document control.

  • Performance of asbestos surveys.
  • Preparation of bidding documents, plans and specifications for asbestos removal projects.
  • Project coordination and quality control during the abatement phase of removal projects.
  • Record keeping for projects assigned.
  • Client communications for progress reporting, project coordination, and contract administration.
  • Air monitoring during abatement projects.
  • Keeping abreast of technology and state-of-the-art procedures in the hazardous waste industry.
  • Reporting to project managers for project issues and problem solving.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafting supervision for project drawings.
  • Scheduling and preparation of project schedules, cost reports, specifications and drawings.
  • Supervision of subcontractors and employees on assigned projects.
  • Reproduction and assembly of project documents.
  • Prepare RFP/RFQ’s
  • Review pay applications, change orders, submittals, design documents.

Position Requirements:

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, or construction management.
  • Certification for building inspector and air monitoring specialist required at time of employment or ability to complete certification within one month of hire.
  • Working knowledge of applicable OSHA and EPA regulations is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer skills.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding contract documents, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project or Primavera.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: This position involves a combination of standing, sitting and walking throughout the day.  Project site requirements may also include bending, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.  This position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds or more and the ability to comply with personal protective equipment requirements.  Extreme physical temperatures as well as loud noises and fumes on project sites may frequently occur.
  • This position requires the ability to view and comprehend information and emails on computers.  Also required are strong communication skills (verbal and written), the ability to problem solve, interpret information and draw conclusions in order to make decisions.  Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work product is also required as well as the ability to effectively handle conflicting priorities.
